Download Droid fonts already!

The droid fonts are being redistributed without a license already. Its still not clear what the license will be for the fonts, though.

The Download Droid fonts already! by David Crossland, except the quotations and unless otherwise expressly stated, is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License.

    “Ascender Corporation, a leading provider of advanced font products and innovative applications for mobile devices, today announced that it designed and engineered a new set of system User Interface (UI) fonts named “Droid” for the Android platform built by the Open Handset Alliance. The Android platform is a complete mobile phone software stack that will be made available under the Apache open source license. “

    There is no reason to believe the fonts are not covered by the Apache licence.

    No, I didn’t think so, and I’ve had it confirmed by Ascender via email that this is for sure the intention, although its ultimately up to the Open Handset Alliance.
